not so fast.

in a culture like ours, long accustomed to splitting and dividing
all things as a means of control, it is sometimes a bit of a shock
to be reminded that, in operational and practical fact, the medium
      is the message.

it now appears that mcluhan thought he was a worm, and we are all worms.

evolved his theories at about the time of the most striking work with Planaria,
such as killing the educated worms, grinding them up, and feeding them to the
dumb worms, which immediately became smarter.

mcluhan's theories can not be separated entirely from the implications of worm
culture.
